p70 - Aziraphale helped himself to Crowley's slice of angel cake.
Stealing each other's food? So cute. *g*

p76 - In the 1870's Aziraphale was known as Mr. Fell.

p83 - Aziraphale and Crowley mention that both Heaven and Hell are just as cruel to those who don't obey. (Obedience is mentioned earlier in the book - ei. both sides insist on it.)

p85 - Crowley disobeys the road rules and obviously does whatever he wants.

'I suppose - get off the road you clown- your people wouldn't consider - and the scooter you rode in on! - giving me asylum?'
'I was going to ask you the same thing -
Watch out for that pedestrian!'
'It's on the street, it knows the risks it's taking!'

p86 - Crowley isn't very good with animals (even though he revived Aziraphale's dove p76)

pp92-3: There was definitely something very weird about them, she decided.
Aziraphale bowed again. 'So glad to have been of assistance,' he said.
'Thank you,' said Anathema, icily.
'Can we get on?' said Crowley. 'Goodnight, miss. Get in,
angel.'
Ah. Well, that explained it. She had been perfectly safe after all.

Hee! I can't help wondering how many people think that when they overhear the angel characters talking. *g*

p95 - When confronted by a car park full of shiny new cars: Crowley's hands itched. Aziraphale healed bicycles and broken bones;he longed to steal a few radios, let down some types, that sor of thing. He resisted it.

p99 - Crowley uses the phrase silly buggers. Aziraphale used the phrase Be-bop for modern music (p86). (Crowley also likes classical music, and the Velvet Underground.)

p105 - Under pressure from Aziraphale, Crowley makes sure that no-one gets hurt using the paintball-turned-real-guns. Aziraphale relaxed. 'You know, Crowley,' he said, beaming, 'I've always said that, deep down inside, you're really quite a -'
'All right, all
right,' Crowley snapped. 'Tell the whole blessed world, why don't you?'

p115 - His hands hardly shook at all as he laid it down on a bench, pulled on a pair of sugical rubber gloves, and opened it reverently. Aziraphale was an angel, but he also worshipped books.

It's only because of LoTR that I now find Pepper's full name so amusing. Pippin Galadriel Moonchild, indeed! The first time I read the book, I didn't fully get the joke.

Also, when I first read it, I didn't pick up on the Them/Four Horsemen correlation. Obviously, Adam is Death, the ringleader. Pepper, always ready for a fight, a red-haired girl, is War. Brian is pollution, and there are mentions of him being constantly dirty, and empty chip packets that always appear around him. And that leaves Wensleydale, with his black rimmed glasses, as Famine.

You have no idea how much I smiled when I first read this on the train.

Yeah, it made me snigger and go back and reread it. Just too cute.
