I'm posting this because I'm powerless to resist [livejournal.com profile] celli. From AIM:

Celli: It's like Choose Your Own Kinky Porn

Me: Hee!

Me: I need a book like that.

Me: It'd be all:
"Rodney groaned and John..."
If John pushed him down to the bed and undid Rodney's belt, go to page 63.
If John moaned as Rodney dropped to his knees in front of him, go to page 17.

Celli: ahahahahah!

Celli: you need to post that.

Celli: everyone will die laughing.

::dies laughing, as predicted::

I'm on page 63 and there's nothing there!

That would be the best thing. EVER. Although I don't know if I like to work for my porn.

*revives you*

Awww. It can't be a "write your own porn" book. That wouldn't be any fun.

Oh, see, if I was in a more porny mood, I could try to write this. And then my head would explode from the effort.

I tell you what, though, it should be a fannish thing. We should have an LJ post with a start, and then have everyone comment as a seperate page, and force it to all link up. It'd be byond cool.

But it would be so much fun. I'd do what I did as a kid, find the ending I wanted and then work backwards until I knew what I had to choose.

I think someone already did something like that, in a limited sense? Let me see if I can find it.

BRILLIANT IDEA, though.

Oh, crap, I can't find it. Sorry! Ignore me!

(I would totally read this if you wrote it, you know.)

Oh, my god. If you could find the link, that would rock so damn much!

Thank you for looking anyway.

(I would totally read this if you wrote it, you know.)

Part of me is thinking it should be a fannish activity during the holiday season. Someone could write the start in their LJ, and then leave with a list of things that should happen on page 3 or page 2, and then someone else could comment in their LJ and link to that "page 2" in *their* LJ, and it could all spread like that.

But it would probably get kind of impossibly, huh?

Hee! Yes, a book like that would be very cool, but I'd be keener on a Web site or computer program that would allow for multi-fandom stories, so we all could thoroughly enjoy it. *g*

I'm replying to your e-mail here because the Care2 site (home for my e-mail account) is screwy. That also kept me from replying to your prior e-mail sooner and letting you know that you didn't have to beta the version already in your possession.

See, back when I wrote the fic, I sent you one version for beta, but I got twitchy about parts of it and fixed them on my own almost immediately thereafter and sent you that revision (the V2 you have) to beta instead, before you'd had the chance to finish going over the original draft. You switched to looking at V2 and sent me back that beta not long thereafter. In the couple months since then, I used your V2 comments to shift the fic into V3, which you haven't seen yet and which may or may not be the final draft, depending on what you think of it.

Did that help? I'm really sorry I couldn't respond soon enough to keep you from having to spend time redoing what you'd already kindly done for me. I'll look at your new comments today, see what should be changed in my V3 before you see it, and then send it to you, once Care2 gets itself sorted out -- assuming you're up for going over an altered version of the same story a third time! =\

Holy crap I want to write Choose Your Own Kinky Porn. This is the BEST IDEA IN THE WORLD!

Aha! That actually explains a lot -- especially my odd sense of deja vu about the whole process. Now that you mention it, I remember you *asking* about a second beta, but not actually sending the file, so ahhh. It must have been my dodgy "will reply to this email later" policy that led to the confusion.

But, yeah, send V3 over (as long as it's marked as V3, it should all be easy sailing from here).

Do, do! We'll all read it and enjoy.

*nods* [livejournal.com profile] celli is a *genius*.

That is fantastic! Normally those books irritate me, but I could get behind a book like that. Bwah.

Maybe if you set up a comm?

I used to love them as a kid. Everytime I made a wrong decision and ended up dead, I'd backtrack two or three decisions and try something else.

From: [identity profile] out-there.livejournal.com
But that would be *effort*.

Pshaw.

(But, yes, you have a good point. A comm would probably be the easiest way to post the pages, and you could go back and edit the original posts to have links to the two options.)

I always felt guilty about doing that. Plus I'm not good at making choices. And I like *all* my endings to be happy. It's like they were made to be my anti-book. :(

I apologize for the confusion. As evidenced above, I tend to talk to much when explaining things, and that can unfortunately make understanding what the hell I'm saying more difficult.

Anyway, I went through your most recent beta and finally finished tweaking the story as much as I think I can at the moment. V3 is en route to you now.
