Because I'm utterly curious and have very little idea of how to answer this meme for other people, I'd like you guys to show me how it's done. Nabbed from [livejournal.com profile] rageprufrock:

Pretend for a minute that the only contact you have ever had with me is through my fic. We've never exchanged LJ comments or emails, never hung out in chat or on IM, never talked on the phone or met each other at a convention, none of that stuff. The only thing you know about me is the kind of fic I write. Based on the way I write my characters, and the way they speak, think, and behave, what does that say to you about what kind of person I am, my attitudes and opinions about real-life issues?

Most of my contact with you has been through your fic. so I thought I would give it a try:

From your fic. I think you are open minded, caring, intelligent, and have a sharp sense of humor. I have only read your Sports Night stories and as I identify so strongly with them, in my mind I have decided that we are very similar. I know that this is probably not the least bit true, but nonetheless, it is easy to project my beliefs on you based on the fact that you write the characters the way I either see them, or want to see them and in ways that they remind me of me or people that I know. Hence, I assume that you are fairly liberal, and definitely a romantic.

Did I answer your question? You have written many of my favorite SN stories, most of which I have read several times, so there is a part of me that would love to meet you and to find out that we had oodles in common, but the reality is that we probably don't and I just love your writing...

Hee! Wel, there is one similarity: deep down, I assume everyone in fandom -- especially those who write stories that reflect precisely how I see the characters -- are Just Like Me. It can't be true, and it never is when you meet them in real life, but online, you're all Annie-clones. *sniggers*

(Also, this was a very cool reply.)

Pretty much what she said, actually. Damn, is that cheating?

*snerk* I'll accept it.

Hee! I'm new to your journal and your writing and have only read a handful of your SGA McKay/Sheppard fics.

From those I'd have to say:
1)You have a wicked sense of humour and, if it weren't for the fact that I identify strongly with said humour, I'd probably worry for your mantal stability. :p
2)I wouldn't want to have you on my badside, since you're way to good at the snarkage.
3)You possibly have a desire to be a gay man (kidding :p). Um you are a fairly liberal and accepting person.
4)You can convey emotions very well, so I'm assuming you aren't a cold unfeeling bitch...

So, I guess I see you as a relatively liberal, friendly and accepting person, with a good sense of humour, who can defend herself when necessary using her biting wit. Does that about cover it?

Dude. I'm so surprised by the "wicked sense of humour". I mean... Okay, yes, I purposely write funny stories (and I've worked hard on getting the snarkage to a canonical level of funny in SN, so I take a bit of pride that I generally manage it), but in real life? I'm not that funny.

Seriously.

Ask any of the fen who know me (like, say, [livejournal.com profile] in_the_bottle or [livejournal.com profile] laylee or [livejournal.com profile] scribewraith) and they'll tell you I'm a dork, that I do stupid-amusing things, but I'm not actually *witty*. To be witty takes time, a word processor, and the ability to go back and delete all the unfunny lines in between.

Having said that, I so wish I used snark as a defense. I'd be as cool as any sitcom character (obviously not as cool as Dr Cox, but maybe halfway there). I actually don't defend myself that much -- I'll hide away and hermit and avoid conflict.

But... it's kinda cool that I come across that way online (even if it's not actually true).

Meh! Aren't we all kinda dorks. I mean we're writing fanfic. :p
Anyway, the meme asks to assess based on your writing, so there you go. Plus, I like seeing all my flist as really cool people. Gives me the feeling that I'm really cool too! :p

(I friended you btw. In case you're wondering why I'm pouncing on your LJ posts lately. :D)

that's cool, I have an open-friending policy. Since most of the spam/personal stuff/annoying bits of random thoughts are FLocked (to avoid non-LJ people reading it), I'll happily let anyone join in and read it. I just can't promise to read theirs in return, because I'm short on time for the default filter I read now and can't afford to add new people.
