Oh [livejournal.com profile] tboy, I forgot to tell you about my train ride home yesterday. Got on the train fairly exhausted, saw this guy sit down opposite me and couldn't figure out why he was drawing my attention. Cutish, but not great looking. Very think, healthy hair...

He started reading a book, so I gave up on figuring it out, and fell asleep. I woke up one station away from home, looked up and saw the guy smirking at the book he was reading, and then it hit me. Brian!

He was such a Brian-lookalike, it was rather unnerving. The only thing that wasn't distinctly Brian-ish, was the hairstyle (which was really a cross between Brian's and Ashton Kushner's... *g*). He looked up and gave me a funny look, so I guess my surprise/amusement must have shown.

It was just very odd.

Ha! How fun for you *g*.

I've been meaning to tell one and all that I have a Justin in my building.

His name isn't Justin, and he's not sunny and bright, either. He is, however, young, blonde, pretty, vain, and unless I miss my mark altogether (and my instincts are pretty damn good in this area ;-D) a talented slut!boy. He slinks, and smirks with half-lidded eyes, and you just know that half his brain power is focused on the next shag. Super bottom-boy, imnsho.

Sometime's he's a pleasure to watch, but I suspect he'd be an absolutely cruel bitch given half a chance, which is a bit of a turn off.

I've lined him up for a tutorial in some of the systems I use *g*. Hey, it's work related. That's my excuse, anyway.

*sniggers* Us? Obsessed? Nah...

Work-related? Well done. *g*

Now, if we could just get your!Justin to meet my!Brian... *smirks*

Yes! I thought that too!

That's pathetic, LOLOL.

I tried to place Justin-boy in the mental cast list for the fantasy QAF-Aus the Sydney Slashers were creating at a get-together earlier this year. Unfortunately, he just looks wrong up against Paul McDermott's Brian! They're too similar - both with that deep-down sexiness, that half-dangerous edge. I need to find a proper Brian for my Justin (and yours just might be the one *g*).

Oh yeah. Look at us, we are mistresses of the pathetic fen... *lol*

I need to find a proper Brian for my Justin (and yours just might be the one *g*).

And the only problem with that is that I'm not positive mine was gay. Possibly bi, but I'm not positive. Unfortunately, unless it's a fictional character, my gaydar is generally faulty.

McDermott's Brian...

*blinks*
Paul McDermott...
*blinks again*
...as Brian?

Okay... I guess if you're looking at it from the perspective of they can both be almighty bastards, it would work.

Hmmm... An Aussie Justin...? (Strange idea, and Toby from Human Nature is just coming to mind, but that's only because of his performance as Emcee in Caberet...)

We also had (thinks back)... Mark Trevorrow playing Emmett, and Mikey was... oh damn, I always forget. Was someone good, though *g*.

Paul could pull off the attitude, if he could reign in the Daas-style venom *g*. He always plays over-the-top, but is perfectly capable of being understated. I quite honestly think he's not confident enough to risk it.

Pity - his take on poignancy is quite sublime.

Probably not. Although, considering how gay half of his performances (okay, most of his performances) come across anyway, I don't think he'd be risking too much! I still remember seeing him in the Witches of Eastwick, and even though he ends up sleeping with four different gals during the story, still comes across a bit fey.

As for the DASS style acting... Hmmm... I wonder how much of it is a very successful persona (and it does work well) and how much of it is just who he is. *shruggs*

That's not the risk I meant. He seems more than comfortable with that, and encourages it.

I've still yet to see him live, where he allows the softer side of his nature to shine through. He's an artist, has a very sensual, intelligent nature and has a beautiful, angelic voice, yet he covers it over and over again with the brash and the funny. Gets right in your face, which, while entertaining, is not what I truly want to see.

It's almost as if that side of him is hiding behind a veil of privacy that he doesn't want to share.

Fair enough, I suppose. A pity, though. I'd give anything to go see him sing live, with no other agenda clouding that.
