As much as I don't like unhappy endings like this one, I definitely love this, because it's true to the characters, and it's not sugar-coating anything.
That's exactly how I feel about this. I actually wrote it just after seeing 2.07, and then realised that I'd broken them up, and tried to tack on a happy ending, but it just didn't work. The story is supposed to end there, is supposed to be them both caring deeply about each other and about Molly but not being able to compromise on their opinions of what needs to be done.
