German soap opera drabble: Enough

If you thought that I could not be convinced to write fic for a boy-painring I've never even seen, you're so wrong. So
celli's fault and all about…
Well, look. German soap opera, cute gay couple called Oliver and Christian. Details are here.
Enough
Christian walked into the apartment, letting the door swing shut behind him. He dropped his bag on the couch, and headed for the bathroom.
At 4pm, he didn't expect anyone else to be home, let alone using the shower. He certainly hadn't expected Olli and some beefy blond to be making out under the steam and hot water.
His tongue suddenly felt about four sizes too large for his mouth. Swallowing didn't help, but Christian tried it anyway.
Olli had his back against the shower curtain, one hand stretched up to hold on to the rail above. The water glued the plastic curtain against his skin, sticking to the muscles of his back, the curve of his ass, showing every movement as he shifted. Even the ridiculous polka dots didn't stop it from being the hottest thing Christian had ever seen.
The blond had thick, meaty hands, wide across the palm and stubby fingers. Christian knew this because he could see them sliding across Olli's back, dipping down to grasp a cheek firmly and yank Olli's hips against his.
Olli groaned. The sound was low and muted by the running water, but it startled Christian. He took a surprised step back and the corner of the basin bit into his side, and he turned, stumbling, managing to knock over everything, to bring it all clattering down loudly on the tiles.
He turned and ran as if the starter's shot had gone off. He heard Olli's shocked voice calling his name as he grabbed his bag and fled.
He went back to the school's campus, planning to wait as late as he could and then sneak in, avoiding Olli altogether. The only problem with the plan was that it left him a lot of time to think.
It shouldn't have been a surprise that Olli had someone over. A little embarrassing to walk in on him, but it shouldn't have felt like a punch to his gut. Olli was gay and Olli dated guys. Maybe he hadn't brought one home in a while, but Olli was smart and handsome, fun and kind, and it wasn't like...
Christian sighed. It wasn't like he'd thought Olli would be single forever, because that made no sense. Olli was... Christian wasn't sure, but he knew any guy would be lucky to have Olli.
So it was kind of stupid that he'd thought, what? That Olli would pine after him? That Olli would never sleep with another guy?
That Olli was somehow his, even though Christian was straight and he wasn't interested, and he didn't care that Olli had been wet and naked and rubbing up against some stranger.
Christian folded his arms, crouching over against the warm wind. He didn't care. He really didn't.
That was why he was sitting on the grass, waiting until Olli had gone to bed. Because he didn't care. He wasn't attracted to Olli. Even if he was, it wouldn't work because Christian wasn't gay. He wasn't.
He wasn't.
He also wasn't paying attention and was surprised when Olli dropped to the ground beside him. "You okay?"
Christian shrugged. "I'm fine."
"I think we just discovered the secret to improving your times on the field."
"I don't think you'd be allowed to do that at the start of each race," Christian muttered, feeling small and miserable. "I'll see you at home later."
Olli didn't move. Instead, he asked quietly, "Christian?"
"What?" Christian turned his head to glare at Olli and suddenly realised how close they were sitting, shoulder to shoulder. Olli's hands are lying in his lap, clasped tightly and looking as wretched as Christian felt. "Sorry. I didn't mean to interrupt."
Olli shrugged but his smile doesn't quite reach his dark eyes. "Kind of ruined the mood."
"You could have stayed," Christian continued. "You didn't have to come after me."
"Yeah, I did."
Christian frowned, watching Olli's hands. Olli sounded calm, but those tense fingers made it a lie. For all the things Christian's not sure of -- all the things he can't be and maybe is -- he never wanted to make Olli miserable. "I'm sorry," he said again, wishing class hadn't been cancelled in the first place.
Olli reached out, grabbing one of Christian's hands in his. "You don't have to be sorry. Just--"
"I'm not--"
"Maybe you're not." Olli nodded once. "But maybe... Maybe you're a little. Maybe that's okay."
If the ground opened up right now and swallowed him whole, Christian would consider it a good thing. "It doesn't feel like it."
"Maybe you have to give it some time," Olli said gently. His other arm slid across Christian's shoulders, pulling him towards Olli's chest and Christian followed his lead, settling his head against Olli's shoulder, leaning into him. Olli doesn't do anything other than hold him tight, one hand around his shoulders, the other hand entwined with Christian's.
It was enough.

Date: 2008-04-19 10:09 am (UTC)(Also, I think I told you Oliver's nickname wrong--it's Olli, not Ollie. Whoops!)
This could totally have happened on the show--Christian's "OMG! So not gay!" and Olli's "STFU, n00b!"

(Reply to this)
Actually, could I ask a favour and get you to post a link? (I have this thing about not joining too many communities -- don't ask, really, it's dull -- but if there's a couple other fans who'd like it, it's not filtered so it should be fine.)

Date: 2008-04-20 05:23 am (UTC)Not sure when exaclty this part is set in (must be relatively early on, if Ollie was still fucking that guy from the gym), but already then Olli came after Christian, dumping his date, just to give comfort to his troubled roommate/the guy he was falling for.
Thank you.

as an example of "if I was writing this, I'd have Olli have some random guy to make Christian jealous" and then the show did that, as I was writing it.
Incidentally that is totally one of my favorite things about the show. That you don't just have this cliché, gay guy pines after straight guy, but Olli gets to do his share of slutting around a bit while he waits for Christian to come around. Love! To me that drives me more nuts about Nuke than any of the not kissing stuff. That it feels like Luke doesn't have any other options but wait around for Luke.
At least with Olli I know that when he's being crabby and pining, I know it's because he feels like doing it, not because he has to.

Sorry, not good with words at all. But I loved it!

Date: 2008-04-20 06:31 pm (UTC)I loved these lines:
Swallowing didn't help, but Christian tried it anyway.
That was... *guh*
Christian folded his arms, crouching over against the warm wind.
And so was that. Oh, the image... It just conveyed so much!
Maybe you're a little. Maybe that's okay."
*swoons happily*

Date: 2008-04-23 08:11 pm (UTC)The weird thing about VL is, though: the canon is so... *whispers* well, crap. Except for the obsessive-making kissing and slashy bits. But at the same time there is virtually no fanon!! When I discovered SGA, I spent almost a year just reading fic before ever encountering my first bit of canon. But with VL, you could read all of the fic in 1/2 an hour.
'tis very odd. A very odd fandom.
*goes to rewatch That Kiss for the 26th time...*
