Since my Flist has grown out of control, I've weeded it back down. Basically, I've removed the people who don't read my LJ. Nothing personal, just convenience.

I'm tempted to say that if anyone else finds I'm just one of those names on the FList that you skim and don't really read, feel free to de-friend me. (Mind you, if you normally only skim, you probably wouldn't notice that note of permission/implied approval so it doesn't really matter.)

Aww. :( I've never actually said this before to anyone, but...reconsider me? I read everything and keep your WIPs bookmarked and everything. I've been lousy about commenting this year with everything going on, but I do enjoy reading your posts. Of course, feel free to ignore this, but I had to try! :)

Oops! Fixed now.

I basically went by the poll I posted a week back, asking who wanted to stay. (Assuming that anyone who didn't read me, wouldn't tick yes, so they wouldn't object to being culled, because they probably hadn't read my LJ in months, if ever.) I didn't want to kick off anyone who actually read, I just wanted to cut down the numbers because there's no way that 300+ people are bothering to read my odd bits of personal drivel.

(Mind you, the FList is still at about 150, which is insanely mindboggling. I'm trying Not To Think About It.)

People on my flists always seem to post those kinds of polls when I'm out of town and at least a week behind on reading.

That is a risk, I'll admit. But it only takes a quick comment for me to realise and fix the error. (And, yeah, at this stage, that's about five people re-added. It's not a personal insult thing, just... if people don't read my LJ but haven't defriended for worries they'll hurt my feelings, now they can feel free to go ahead.)

Oh! Okay, I admit, I skimmed last week because I was on vacation. <.g> I'm sorry I missed that poll, but thanks for adding me back. :)

Mindboggling in that that many people want to read you, or in that it's a big number? If the latter, well... I think maybe that's when unlimited high-speed internet helps? (And if it's the former, you're under the mistaken impression that you're dull or similar. Mistakes can be fixed, though!)

It's mindboggling in the former, I think. Well, maybe it's that with dial-up internet, and work, these days, I only honestly keep up with 30 LJs. If I spent more time reading LJ and less time attempting to write, maybe I'd keep up with 50.

My basic mindset is that Others Are Like Me (ethnocentric, I know, but it's how my head works) so I figure that maybe there's twenty people who read as friends would -- with interest in the boring details of my life -- and maybe another fifty floating around and skimming for fannish stuff, like discussions of this latest episode or what does that look mean. And maybe another twenty or thirty who just use the FList to keep up when I post a bit of a wip. So that's, hmmm, 100 explained.

Maybe you're right. I just assume that I'm basically a dull type (well, I think every human being is basically dull and boring; the important bit is finding the ones that get excited about the same dull stuff as you), but back when I was in uni, I kept up with a much larger FList and compulsively read links to other LJs, so it shouldn't make me boggle.

Well, I suppose then I'm one of the dull people who gets excited about being able to see the inside of other peoples' lives.

There are a couple of people on my flist I tend to skim, but I read at minimum 100 of the people as friends read. Granted, I've had a lot of time in which to do so in the past year-plus.

Anyway. This was all to say that I find you consistently interesting, enjoy reading about your life, and am glad to have the privilege of reading your LJ. <3

I'm glad to see I made the cut. (I've been skimming everyone lately and not commenting, so I'm pretty sure people are starting to give me up for dead.)

*laughs* Because I'm insanely lazy, I just went by the list that had ticked yes on the "do you want to be on my FList" poll.

(Mind you, even though I don't comment that much myself, you're on my default reding list anyway, so I would have kept you regardless.)

Truthfully, you're one of the people on my FL that I do read faithfully. You, and [livejournal.com profile] laylee, and a handful of others. Most of my FL has been eaten by bandom, and that I do skim!

From: [identity profile] out-there.livejournal.com
*laughs* Yeah, I skim bandom stuff too. But I have a small default reading filter (with you, laylee, celli and... well, it's about thirty and it's as much as my head can keep up with at a time -- and even then, when I'm time-short, I skim and hope I don't miss anything vital) so I was only reading a tenth of the journals that I had friended. Now, it's only a fifth, which oddly enough makes me feel a lot better.

It's popslash for the new millenium! *giggles* Okay, that's... possibly not fair, but it's not entirely un-true.

As much as popslash was slash about boy bands, bandom is slash about these new emo-punk type rockers who like to wear make-up, tight jeans and sometimes boykiss onstage. (Or so I've heard.) Panic At The Disco, Fall Out Boy, and ... um, some others seems to be popular types, but I honestly don't listen that much. I just know Pete Wentz is involved in one of the groups, and in another, there's a Gerard and Mikey who are brothers.
