Last year's stats

January:

The One with the Love Spell: Merlin, Merlin/Arthur, 1,421 words.

February:

Soaked: Prison Break, Alex/Micheal/Sara, 285 words. Threesome futurefic.

Survival: Prison Break, gen, 475 words. Prison Break in the style of Lost.

March:

Reggie and Wooster: Jeeves and Wooster AU, Jeeves/Bertie, 3,791 words. (This is a little of a cheat since most of this WIP was written last year... it just took me forever to finish it.)
At first glance Wooster appears to be a reasonable Gentleman's gentleman. His collar is ironed, his dark suit simple but well-pressed, and a bowler hat sits upon his head, although the style does not suit him terribly well.

April:

Impossible Things: Prison Break AU, Michael/Alex, 15,083 words. Sequel to Similar Creatures (in other words, more teen hooker fic).
Alex tries to be a little more honest with himself. Tries to remember that just because the money's out of sight -- left on the kitchen counter for Michael, something so crass about actually handing it to him every time -- doesn't mean this is more than a job for Michael. Doesn't mean Alex should expect it to be more.

IT: Merlin drabble, Merlin/Arthur, 550 words

June:

The Ill-Advised Backpack: Prison Break AU, Michael/Alex, 3,402 words. My 2009 Taxfic entry.
It starts with the depreciation of a building.

The Quiet Art of Standing Still: Prison Break, Michael/Alex (or gen, it's hard to tell), 694 words.
Where Michael goes to be alone.

October:

Remember You Have Chance and Possibility: Prison Break AU, Alex/Michael, 24,730 words.
Let me spell this out in terms you'll understand," Alex says, pushing a hand through his hair and taking a grounding breath. "If. I. Can't. Find. Shales. There's no way in hell some kid with no experience stands a chance."

Conclusion:

9 stories, counting the drabbles and ficlets individually.

Breakdown by fandom:
1 Jeeves & Wooster - 3,791
2 Merlin - 1,971
6 Prison Break - 44,669

Total words written: 50,431

Big drop this year (last year, I wrote 137,305 words, and 81,861 the year before) but I felt that. It's even more obvious in story numbers (9 in 2009 vs 56 in 2008) and when I look at my WIP folder. There's quite a few wips that were hanging around this time last year that I just haven't got back to. Mostly, it's having a new job that I genuinely enjoy (and that keeps me occupied and busy during working hours) and taking on the CPA study (which is keeping me fairly busy during non-work hours), plus a little more socialising as I've made friends at work.

In other words, I have a limited number of hours and I've made my priorities. I can't really regret it -- I'm pretty happy with my life right now -- so fannish productivity is just going to have to be the victim here.

The fandom stats show I fell hard for Alex/Michael (and/or Alex/Michael/Sara) but nothing else really caught me. I haven't managed to touch Jack/Ianto since Children of Earth (that takes a little getting over) but I'm still hopeful that I'll get back and finish those wips eventually. I'm also wondering if White Collar will grip me enough to write, or if I'll spend the next two years (while I'm doing the CPA) not-writing.

Goal for 2010:
Try to finish those WIPs. Or failing that, finish updating my Fic Index and repost allthose stories that used to live on Geocities.

That is a really impressive word count!

Hee. Adorable icon!

It's not a bad word count, per se, it's just the lowest word count I've had for years. Most of me can be an adult and realise that there's only 24 hours in every day (but there's a teeny tiny part that wants to stamp her foot and complain that I'd much rather be writing fic. Just a tiny part).

But in more interesting news, are you maybe attending Supanova in April? I'm looking forward to seeing GDL. (I'm also making a mental note to not throw out the banana t-shirt until after that con. Yes, it's getting old but at the same time, a picture of Ianto while wearing the t-shirt is too appealing to resist.)

It maybe less than you have been writing but to me it's still a very impressive amount. I'd be pleased if I managed 10,000 words last year but then I have only just started writing again.

I'm considering Supanova, it will mostly depend on my budget - I have the big Stargate con at the start of March and then the SPN con at the start of May

what is "PB"?

Also - well done! I haven't done my roundup yet, but 2009 was a pretty good writing year for me.

*hugs* tight

How are you enjoying all the snow??

PB, in this case at least, is "Prison Break". *g*

How are you enjoying all the snow??

I think you're thinking of the wrong hemisphere! Here -- in Australia -- it's summer and some days are hitting 35C. These are the days when the idea of snow is exotic and exciting.

Do you have a collection of your fic anywhere? I was recced "Not Homophobic" and I would love to read it if you still have it somewhere!

At the moment, it's not online. (Geocities closed, and while I saved the file, I haven't been able to upload it anywhere yet.) When I get it uploaded somewhere, I'll drop a note here and let you know the URL. *g*
