DVDs and CDROMs
May. 15th, 2003 03:09 pmHmmm... A second-hand DVD player for $280... A co-worker's cousin is going overseas and selling her DVD player. Is that a good buy?
I mean, everyone who knows me, knows I'm tight. Frugal. Downright stingy. It's kinda obvious. But, it's a case of I owe Mum a few thousand, and I pay $700 a month on rent (to avoid the "thrill" of having a housemate), so there are reasons.
On one hand, I've wanted a DVD player since I went to Sydney and saw the MB DVDs. (Heh. $180 for 74 episodes. That's more anime goodness than you can shake a long stick at!) Plus, I love the specials on DVDs, and I'd be hiring X-Men 1.5, and the extended LoTR DVDs pretty quickly.
On the other hand, budget considerations. I really can't afford to impulse spend. I know this. It's a bad thing, and I have debts/expenses. And, if I'm spending nearly $300, I should be spending it on driving lessons... or going out. *g*
Plus, it's not like I spend a great deal of time watching TV anyway. I'm hooked on the 'net more often than not, and I still have videos I haven't seen (Matrix, end of The Jury, S1 & S2 WW - Sorry,
erilyn, I will return them eventually... *^_^), so it's unlikely I'd really get time to enjoy watching the DVDs.
Okay, there's the decision. No DVD player.
In other news, I just found out that work has a CD burner. I've just found the way to download the Utena eps and burn them to CD! *vbg*
