Jun. 22nd, 2003 04:07 pmSam and Josh. Do you know how much I love these boys at the moment? I love them when they're efficient and intimidating; I love them when they're fighting the good fight. I love them when they're tetchy and adorable, and have lived on caffeine and adrenaline for days, with their poor sleep-deprived minds still try to function (like in Sam, Meet Morpheus).
But most of all? I love them when they're emotionally falling apart. I love watching the pressure build and seeing them struggle to keep it together, and for the most part succeeding. Not necessarily being healthy about it, but keeping the country in running order, doing their jobs and keeping the nation on track. I love the way that the emotional breakdowns are always private, personal affairs, where it can only take one person to damn you or save you. I love Sam closing in on himself, and Josh pushing people away, and the way that sometimes, just sometimes, all they need is the other to make it all right. (As in Keep Looking by Candle Beck, which gives us front row seats to Josh slowly falling apart.)
And, sometimes, as in Held, it just can't be fixed.
Can we tell I've spent the day reading WW fics? *g* I like my angst as much as anyone, and at the moment, these boys are really hitting the spot.
