I feel like this is just proof that we should have been quietly carrying on with DW all along and I should just return to my plodding but productive LJ habits on here. Thank you for regularly blogging substantial content.

I feel weirdly... justified? reassured? secretly pleased that there's all this activity on DW suddenly and people are coming over from tumblr. Tumblr is such a different beast -- but great for visual artists, I see that -- but it's not the way I like to do fandom. My fandom interaction has always been mostly text-based, with occasional vids and art work.

Hah, yeah, I’m hoping fandom will move towards more thoughtful posting here. I’m still a bit stressed because I’m an illustrator who follows a lot of fan artists and I’m not sure how I’m going to keep up participating in fandom. I mostly contribute and consume art and Dreamwidth doesn’t host images in the intuitive way Tumblr did. That’s the part I need to figure out.

I think that's the bit that fandom's still figuring out -- and wherever works best, I think that's where fandom will end up migrating to.

Hi! I'm new to DW and still trying to figure it out. I seem to have joined Tumblr just as it started collapsing. Anyway, I added you because you're one of my favorite authors in the Sherlock fandom.

I'm Mads_Ansley on AO3-- no pressure to add me back, I'm just trying to feel out DW and make some friends.

I'm so much more comfortable friending people on DW than I am on tumblr -- familiarity and knowing that DW is an easily managed platform.

I'd been on tumblr for about 8 months and while it was fun to watch, it didn't suit me as well as the text based journalling platform does.

Oh, I agree. I resisted Tumblr for years, and I only joined a couple weeks ago because I wanted to get more connected to the Sherlock fandom community. It's looking like I might not have had to bother at all, although I do wonder/worry about what will happen to some of the fantastic art there.

I've been blogging on my own website for a while now, so I'm thinking I'll end up crossposting to DW.

I don't know what will happen to the fanart side of tumblr. There may be a mass move to pillowfort or somewhere else... They're going to need hosting space somewhere but I think it's still very unknown for them right now.
