Quick rec for Land of the Living. It was one of those fics where the characterisation (especially, the view of Sam) jarred me for a moment, made me stop and think. Actually, I can't deny that Sam could be that guy; I certainly can't argue against it using canon. It's just my personal feelings about Sam that say he isn't quite like this, but the author also shows examples of things that feel just like my Sam.

It's interesting reading those fics that make you think about your favourite characters and re-evaluate them. Although, this is also a very satisfying fic for other reasons. There's a strong... hmmm... Joshness to the first person POV, that shows itself in the plain language, the clear linear thoughts and the direct style of the piece. There's a detailed description of just how these two guys interact which is very believable - it's sex, politics and arguements; it's quirks, hang ups, and daily routines; it's driving each other crazy and quiet unspoken compromises.

It's different, both in format and in ideas. Highly enjoyable.

I'm thoroughly enjoying your West Wing fic recs. I haven't actually got around to looking for new ones in months, so your recs are my one link to the fanddom.

BTW, I'm sure you'll have come across her already, but here's the link to my favourite WW writer:

*sniggers at your icon* I love Chapstick too.

Hmmm. I'll add JaeGecko to my "to read" list and check it out. I can remember coming across her turning series, but I can't remember if I read them, or just meant to read them.

Glad you're enjoying the recs, but I feel obligated to point out that they're not necessarily new fics, just ones that I haven't read before. *bg* Personally, I haven't read any for ages, then I got into watching S1 & S2 on tape, and went searching for fics again.

My chapstick icon was a gift from Alax - it's so cute, isn't it!

I'm just having a quick look through Jae Gecko's recs page:

I remember doing so ages ago, and finding some great stories.

As for new, I've not looked at new West Wing fics this year! So my idea of new is a bit out of date, plus I never found a good WW archive that actually shows you what fics are new like Level Three and The Glass Onion and the SSA do.

I had a brief look. The fics that I recognise were the ones that I loved, so I'm looking forward to checking out the others.

Seaborn for America! I forgot how much I loved that fic. Every time I read it, it makes me crack up laughing, and singing along with Josh. *g*
