I just got back from seeing TTT and loved it. It was great! The true sign of wonderful special effects is when you find yourself so engrossed that you barely notice just how good the effects are. I was concentrating so much on the fighting scenes that it wasn't until I left the cinema that I realised how good it was.

Also, loved Gollum. He's a real scene stealer. Fantastic to see that just because a character is mainly animated through computer graphics, he doesn't have to be annoying (think Jar Jar Binks...). Generally, I can't wait until the next film.

Only thing I didn't like was that I went to Village Cinema's and got the playing cards. Dodgy. There's a picture of the ring and Sauron's eye for the joker, Gandalf is the Ace, Frodo's the Jack, Eowyn's the Queen and Faramir's the King. One hobbit? I got ripped off. (Although the back does feature a little picture of Sam and Frodo, but still...)

Moments I loved...
- Gollum calling Sam a 'stupid fat hobbit'
- The expression on Legolas' face when the kind won't take their battle advice, and calls Gimli 'Master Dwarf'. It's just one of those perfectly polite, 'can you believe this guy?' expressions.
- Legolas giving Aragorn Arwen's pendant. Seriously, how slashy would that look to an outsider? How did Eowyn not get that impression too (especially considering that when she asked Aragorn about the lady who gave that to him, Aragorn took his sweet time in replying).
- Pippin's face when the "tree" opened its eyes. Oh, and Pippin's comment of not to encourage the tree by talking back to it.
- Frodo straddling Sam, while Sam referred to himself as 'your Sam'. *g*
- Gimli's 'Don't tell the elf.' (Hee!)
- Legolas' reply to Gimli not being able to see. 'Do you want me to describe it to you... or do you want me to get you a box to stand on?' (Admittedly, the thoughts running through my mind were not completely pure...)

Oh, and I have Bernice to thank for making me giggle in serious moments. Once, when the serious, threatening Orc said that he 'could smell man' because I couldn't help thinking that obviously he could smell Aragorn. And once at the start when Gimli, Legolas and Aragorn are running across the hills. I couldn't help thinking that it would probably be used for the start of the TV series (or they'd try to shoot the same, on a lower budget, and they'd run across little hills instead of mountains...).

It's a very slashy film, although I still can't see Aragorn slash (I mean, I can, but I have to put some effort into it...). Frodo and Sam - definitely doing it. Merry and Pippin - they were already doing it in the first film. Legolas and Gimli - I'm thinking still pre-slash, because they're both putting so much effort into impressing the other.

I'm going to go try some of the recs given to [livejournal.com profile] iibnf for non-angsty Legolas/Gimli...

Merry and Pippin sittin' in a tree *g*
And Aragorn, Gimli and Legolas are so the trio of gay love *snicker*

Bernice has a lot to answer for. I was sitting next to her the first time I saw it. Aragorn falls over the cliff, she whispers, 'Yay! He finally has a bath.' The orcs do their scary banging of their halberds on the ground at Helm's Deep, I get, 'Look! Orcs doing the haka!'

Not that I was any better. I snickered through a couple of bits myself with the comments I was making to myself. Hannah still wins with the, 'It was all fun and games until Haldir died' quote. *g*

Well, it would have taken a while for them to get to Entmoot, so they had to occupy their time somehow. And that could get a few snogs in before Treebeard finished his sentences! ;)

Yeah, but it would have been better if it looked as if they could reach each other. I wouldn't have tried climbing across while Treebeard was moving.

I must admit that I loved Merry's comments about their no longer being a Shire, if they didn't fight. I so love Merry and Pippin.

And Sam and Frodo.

I really can't choose between those four.

Okay, so maybe they were only holding hands? ;)

The Fellowship is just one big ole gay lovefest *g*
