Teeth...

Had an appointment witht the dental surgeon yesterday (I don't know if I've just been lucky, but lately every dentist I go to is a really gentle guy... I no longer have excuses for avoiding them). Found out that the removal of my wisdom teeth will be a day surgery and will require a week to get over (and for the first three days, my lower jaw could sweel and has a small chance of being temporarily paralyzed! @.@). It'll also cost around $1700, so thank heavens for parents willing to pay for medical costs!

Right now, I'm waiting for the surgeon's admin girl, Cathy, to call me re: an appointment time. They have a patient who managed to be booked in twice, so I might be able to get in on either the 15th or 16th of January. On the good side, this will mean only five more weeks of constant panedol and aspirin (Yay!), on the bad side, I'm supposed to start my new job on the 13th of January. Is it bad form to start a job by asking for a week of sick leave? I'll contact the new boss once I have a final date and time of my appointment.

As far as pain goes, I don't mind it as long as I can't feel it!

Forgot to mention that I went to Caberet last night. The theater production really is pretty different from the film. No Max, so the financial corruption was linked to smuggling for the Nazis, not to lust. Instead of the young Jewish girl and German guy, it was an older couple; a German woman who ran rented the room to Sally and Cliff and a Jewish guy (played by "Robert the Dentist" from Mother and Son). Sally was not the center of the story and tended to get overshadowed by the older couple.

I missed Max. I disliked the fact that Sally was English, and Cliff was American. (Was his name Cliff in the film? It doesn't seem right to me.) However, the emcee rocked. Toby Allen was undoubtably the best bit of the entire production for me. He was so good in the role, and looked really hot in makeup. See (Takes a while to load). Seriously, I'm never thinking about Human Nature in the same way.

More quizzes, cos I love 'em. )

Since the dental surgeon hasn't called re: my appointment, I'll have to call him on Monday. I filled up those hours of waiting by playing with graphics. First of all, I created a new icon for myself, and then I tried to fix up the cover I did for Nerodi's Miscarriage. I much prefer the new version (since the old version was one of the first manips I tried, it wasn't surprising that it kinda sucked). You could see them here.

I'm off to eat.

Well, it's been absolute ages since I've written anything, and Slodwick issued a bit of a challenge (write a fic inspired by her pic) so I thought I'd give it a shot.

Legends

Okay... I only got to the title, and then got distracted by reading other people's fics. * ^.^ Slip of the Tongue, by Seeker, is a hilarious Snape/Lockhart fic which had me laughing out loud. A very snarky Snape and a perfectly oblivious and irritating Lockhart. My favourite lines were:
The one and only time with James had been such a disaster neither one of them had been able to look at the other for days, and two weeks later Potter started dating Lily. It was lowering to think he'd literally scared the other boy straight.
and:
It was lovely. Incredible. Wonderful.
"Darling!"
Oh, God, it was Lockhart.
Snape gave up the fight and fainted dead away.
