Bugger. Just got told that the receptionist is resigning. At least there's two weeks notice, but I'll still miss her. She's the one in the office that I chat to the most.

In other news, I'm blaming [livejournal.com profile] thete1 for a new idea for a WW fic. Admittedly, I can't really blame her, but I'll try.

Would you believe I actually dreamt not only about fandom, but about meta conversations last night? I dreamt that I was talking with [livejournal.com profile] thete1, for ease of reference she shall now be DreamTe, about pairings and writing. We were talking about how some pairings are canonically dark, or start off being dark, but a good writer should be able to show the light inside each character, to make the reader see them glow. Then, she illustrated her point by writing a Wes/Connor fic as I sat there.

Seriously, I can remember looking over her shoulder as she typed, and I could hear her words as she wrote them, but when I looked at the screen, it just showed Wes and Connor acting out the fic. It was just a conversation and I can't remember it well, except for being very impressed by it.

Then, DreamTe was giving me advice about writing. I told her about a fic that I want to write (Five Things That Never Happened to Sam Seaborn) but was too intimidated to try. She told me to stop trying to plan it out, trying to make it easy and possible, and to just sit down and try it. That it was only by trying to write the impossible that I'd become better, and that even if the fic didn't work, I'd still learn more by trying and failing, than by avoiding it.

*blinks* I'm starting to wonder about my subconscious. I think that most of the things in that dream I could trace back to either fics, LJ comments or conversations I've had over the last week or so, but it all made so much sense at the time.

I mean, that's a fairly detailed dream and I don't think the advice itself is wrong. The intriguing thing is that I hadn't even thought about the Five Things fic, but I woke up at 5am thinking about it (before I crashed again), and now I want to do it.

You know the other interesting thing? DreamTe looks like Jasmine (from Angel), except with an afro about an inch long.

Home time!

Okay, I'm heading off. I think I might have a look around the shops for slacks for work... Hmmm... depends if they're open late.

Then, I'm going home to work on the Impossible WW fic, 'cos if my dreams are giving me pep talks, I really should give it a try.

And, [livejournal.com profile] charliequinn is to blame for the fact that I now can't stop smirking and thinking about MR's resemblance to a roll on deoderant! *g*

First off, as much as I love the public transport system in Melbourne, I currently love taxis more. Not only was the train home delayed by 25 minutes, it went express past my stop! (I know that some of the trains do go express past my station and the station before and after it, but normally there's at least some announcement of this fact!) So, I got off the train three stations away from home, and found out that the next train towards the city that wasn't an express, didn't leave for another 50 minutes.

Hence, I got a taxi. And, it only cost me $12! Considering it costs me just under $5 to go to my station from home, I'm very pleased by this.

I went clothes shopping this evening and spent $200 over three hours, which I'm pretty pleased with. Wanna know what I got? ) So, that's a total of 23 items for $200, so I'm pleased. Plus, I spent all day in one red sock and one green sock because I couldn't find a matching pair this morning, so some of this stuff was pretty necessary.

It makes me glad I don't work in the city. I work just far enough out that it's a lot of hassle to go shopping at lunch. Otherwise, I'd spend more on clothes. I forgot how much I like clothes. I don't like most of the fashions, but I like the colours, textures and some of the groovy designs. (Not enough to put some effort into loosing wieght to look really good in them, but enough to spend when I shouldn't.)
