When I wake up really cranky on a Friday morning, it shouldn't surprise me that it turns out to be that time of the month. *grrrr* When it comes to periods, I'm certainly not as cursed as some (sure, I always spend the first day on painkillers, but it's not like I'm immobilised by severe pain for a week), but the combination of cramps, backache, headache and tiredness today just makes me want to crawl into bed.

On the good side, the boss is out of the office until 2pm, so at least I don't have to deal with those demands for efficiency. Thank heavens.

Of course, having said that, the boss calls up to find out what I've done this morning and to hassle me to get my to do list done. And my reaction is to grumble back at him that I've been sorting through my desk (*grrrrr* *argh*). His reaction was to remind me that he wants stuff done when he returns this arvo, and that "he'll leave it in my capable hands". Heh. See, we have an understanding. I don't get put off by his bad moods, he doesn't bug me too much when I'm in a bad mood. It works well.

Oh, and because I'm big enough to admit when I'm wrong (sometimes), I was totally wrong about Jafar's voice in Aladdin. (I watched it last night and checked.) It's not Jeremy Irons, it's Jonathan Freeman. Scar and Jafar are still two of my favourite villians though. (Also, Jafar and Iago? Would be so slashy if they were both human. They're both such drama queens.)

Also, saw a preview for Bambi, and commented to Mum that I wasn't sure if I'd seen it. Everyone talks about Bambi's mother and how truamatic that was, and I can't even remember it. She said that I did see it as a kid, but I liked the rabbit. Considering I knew the rabbit's name (Thumper), I'm guessing Mum's right that I only paid atnetion to his scenes. She said the other kids came out of the cinema talking about the deer, I came out talking about Thumper. *g*

- I don't get the audio blog thing that seems to have entranced Slod and Jess. Will try to remember to check it out this weekend.

- Borrowed tapes last night and still have "The Virgin Suicides" (Kirsten Dunst! *squee*) and something starring the guy who played Darcy in Pride and Prejudice. Yes, I am perfectly happy to hire films based soley on their cast.

- I want to stop by [livejournal.com profile] vissy's bookstore today, so I might spend this weekend watching a full-screen size of Slumber. Yay me.

- Will download Perry and watch it on Tinyvision this weekend. Everyone seems pretty pleased by it (I'm avoiding spoilers) so I'm glad. Trust me, I just squealed when the preview showed Perry White coming to SV. So looking forward to it.

- Watched "Chicago" last night. Am I the only one who didn't pick up on the sexual overtones to Mama Morton? I am, aren't I? *hangs head* And I call myself a slasher. I was surprised watching it last night that the overtones were so strong, but I hadn't even picked up on it the cinema.

- Sometimes, all it takes is Three Little Words to cheer you up. (And, Weird Al reference that made me laugh, because it is true and I have said that.)

- I'm glad I have 'net friends. On a day like today, I needed a combination of Celli and Wendi to make me crack a smile (and reduce me to giggles).

- I've now finished a can of coke and caught up on email and LJ. I'd better get some work done...

"embraces the things that are right, and condemns the things that are wrong".
"We call evil by its name, and stand for the freedom that leads to peace."

Ha!

This is the reason I try to avoid finding out too much about politics. It's too damn depressing.

If there's anyone on my FList who voted for Howard, please don't tell me about it. I'd like to keep believing that you are a thinking, rational human being.

Meanwhile, due to waiting for stupid solicitor to call me back, I'm not going to make it to Vissy's. This sucks. Like a really strong hoover.

Okay, I'm feeling better now. Still a bit flushed and feverish, so I think I'm coming down with something, but the Almighty Cramps of Doom have passed.

Oooh! *hugs [livejournal.com profile] therealjae* Just got your beta. Man, you put quite a bit of effort into it! Thanks! *g*

Best things about today: Just in case you don't want to listen to moody rambling. )

Who would have thought that Toby would be my "I'm suffering from PMS and hate the world" icon. It's weirdly appropriate.

From the FAQ on this Lion King page (emphasis added by me):

Also missing is a scene where Scar (after Mufasa's death) puts the make on Sarabi, and gets rejected by her. It may have gotten as far as the script and I think storyboards, but never got animated.

Andreas Deja wanted that scene in the movie to show Scar was straight. (He was sensitive to the speculations about Jafar in Aladdin) He also thought it would add to the story if he had a reason besides being king, to kill-off Mufasa. "Sparky" Katzenberg thought it would be just "too much" for the kiddies and kept yanking it all the times it kept getting brought up.

Hee! The only slashier villain than Jafar is Scar. Trust me, I'm just sitting over here giggling.
