out_there: B-Day Present '05 (Peppy Casey (by Signe))
Have just finished reading the SV AU fic (The Hart and The Lion for those of you not noticing my last three posts on it). I think it took me about 11 hours to read, all in all, but I enjoyed it. And the only recurring character who didn't appear in it was Sam Donovan. (I don't think. Did I miss him?)

You know, it's left me with an urge to go read The Tiger Prince again. For those of you who don't know, it's an original/fantasy slash piece, that's very involving. It's been rec'ed as:

"Saladin, the Tiger Prince, is none too thrilled when his father sends him to deal with a report of a strange creature in the mountains. A Human, a true oddity in a world of Admir (human-like in appearance, but with the ability to become animals). And Dual is truly special: a beautiful amnesiac that Sala finds far too appealing for his own good. But things are always more complicated than that. Add in the faithful best friend, the scheming younger brother, the innocent *other* younger brother, and a single-minded guard, and you have a story that just begs to be read over and over. So go on, and do just that!"

What I really like is the way that it's so complex and was a collaborative effort, in that Sahari wrote it, but the ideas were brainstormed. It isn't a story about one slash couple, it's really a story about three (and my favourite pair wasn't even the main pair). Each of the younger tiger brothers pairs up by the end. *g*

The main page not only has a link to the story, it also has links to descriptions of each of the characters and backgrounds (in case you get confused), descriptions of the politcal standing of the families and the different clans, and links to fanfic and fanart based on the story.

*goes to skim to her favourite bits*

out_there: B-Day Present '05 (WW Fruit)
[livejournal.com profile] oxoniensis sent me some WW screencaps, so I've been icon making. As usual, the amount of time I spend making an icon has *no* effect on how good the final product turns out to be. I'm no longer surprised by this.

Meanwhile, I've been listening to Te's funky music, and reading through S1-3 WW quotes (and laughing. A lot.).

ETA: Just read this from H Con. - 172, talking about the President's favourite movie "Lion in Winter":
Toby: I turned it on just as they got to the scene when Richard, Geoffrey, and John were locked in the dungeon and Henry was coming down to execute them. Richard tells his brothers not to cower but to take it like men. And Geoffrey says, "You fool, as if it matters how a man falls down." And Richard says, "When the fall -
POTUS and Toby: is all you have left, it matters a great deal."
Toby: It matters a great deal.

Heh. I shouldn't still get that intellectual whiplash from SN and WW dialogue overlapping, but I do.
