out_there: B-Day Present '05 (Amused Dan & Casey)

Britney's new song? Toxic? I like it. It's very catchy, and there's something about it that makes me think of classic Bond movies, and those old surfer flicks. It makes me think of surfer music and the Beach Boys, and it just seems naturally made for go-go dancing. *shrugs* Yeah, I like it.

Something I don't like? Is SN fanon heights. Okay, people, could someone show me a screencap of Dan and Casey standing beside each other? Because, really, I doubt Casey's more than an inch or so taller than Dan. It's the kind of height difference you'd barely notice. (Yes, I'm sick of Dan focusing on Casey's height.)

Another fanon thing? The use of "Case". This is truly sad that I am this much of a canon geek. Truly sad. And yet, how many fics use the nickname "Case". It barely appears on the show (once in the Late Night confession in Thespis, once in... some other intimate Casey/Dan discussion, and I think that's it). This is not a common nickname. It's not used anywhere near as frequently as "Danny", and yet, it seems to appear in almost every fic.

Mind you, I'm fickle about how much this bugs me. If it's a smutty fic, I'll give you more room. It's a one syllable word, easy to hiss or groan in the midst of passion. If it's them talking about serious, intimate and emotional issues, I'll accept the lone "Case". However, it shouldn't be appearing every second time Dan says Casey's name.

And despite these random bitches, I'm actually not in a bad mood. My neck's sore from lying in bed in front of the computer (have just remembered why I stopped doing that), and it's a Monday, but... not in a bad mood.

ETA: Just saw [livejournal.com profile] ahab99's Boogie Shoes icon. It's making me giggle like a loon. Can't explain why, it just does. *giggles*

Did you see [livejournal.com profile] callmesandy's study on name use on the show?

And, like the good minion I am, I found you some hight-related screencaps: here's a closeup, and here's a good shot of the two of them walking. I would put the height difference at two inches, at the most.

two, three inches with Casey's kind of... foofy hair.

*snerk* I thought of that too... "But, that's kinda Casey's hair..."

anyway you look at it, neither of them should be height obsessed.

I'm height obsessed, but that's because I'm short and bitter about it.

Bwahahahaa! *mocks the short person*

How short are you?

I'm about... 5'4" (or 5'5") so I'm a good height for a chick. Generally only feel short when I went out with my friend Stuart and his brother, who are both over 6'. Being surrounded by guys when you only reach their shoulder? Is odd. Made me realise how strange it would be to be a cast member of Buffy.

I'm 5'1 and a bit.

It's creepy hanging out with people who are 6' foot plus, 'cause dude, they're a foot taller than me.

I don't ever want to meet a professional basketball player, 'cause dude... they're like 7' and stuff.

*nods* Totally creepy.

Although, creepiest height related thing? Seeing two models walking in London on a photoshoot. I mean, apart from the whole having two women dressed in colour co-ordinated clothes? At the time, I was thirteen, and about 5'2", and these chicks? I swear they must have been a good 6'2".

I mean, they were *tall*. And walking together. And... it was just enough to freak me out. (Okay, how about I stop subjecting you to random reactions now? *G*)

My former roommates were 4'10 and 6'2. I'm 5'7. Smack dab in the middle.

Bwahahahaa! It's so wrong that I'm imaging the three of you standing in a line, each able to look *over* the top of the head of the person in front of them.

I'm thinking it would coming in handy for watching TV in small, enclosed spaces... *giggles*

Did you see callmesandy's study on name use on the show?

Yep. That's pretty much where the sudden realisation came from. I read it a couple months ago, and then I noticed how little Dan uses it on the show, although it's littered throughout fandom.

And, like the good minion I am, I found you some hight-related screencaps: here's a closeup, and here's a good shot of the two of them walking. I would put the height difference at two inches, at the most.

Mmmm... Casey/Dan...

*drags mind back to topic*

Yeah, you're probably right, about two inches. (And a little part of that is Casey's hair!) And, yeah, I'm over-reating to the height thing, I think. I mean, that difference, for me? I don't know if I'd notice it. I don't notice friend's heights unless their a good 4-5 inches taller or shorter than me, so I'm not sure if Dan would notice it.

On the other hand, if Dan was used to dating short women, I could see the point. You'd subconsciously expect to have to lean down to kiss, so... it could be a bit unnerving/surprising/odd to have to lean up very slightly. But unlike a lot of shows, SN doesn't fill the cast with short, tiny women, and I don't think Rebecca was incredibly short compared to Dan.

Maybe this is just a "me not noticing it" thing. It could be a very valid personal observation, that you're tilting your face up instead of down...

Yeah, could be...I don't mind one or two references to it, but too much emphasis and I notice it. There's a natural tendency to overemphasize the height difference in slash, anyway. A lot of SV fics make a point of Lex being short, and he's 6' even, three inches shorter than Clark. Same thing.

Call me crazy, but if we're sticking strictly to canon, the boys are actually straight, too. ;)

According to the IMDB biographies, they're 6' 1" and 5' 11" respectively. But IMDB has been know to be *cough* not altogether accurate.

(Pause)

Straight???

*nods* I'm thinking Slod missed some stuff. I mean, closeted, yes, but straight? I don't think so.
