Undies!

Woke up at 9am feeling subhuman. Took tablets, turned on music and went back to bed. Just woke up, and feel far closer to human.

Whatever this is, I'm not sure if it's a cold. I still have the horrid headache and my muscles are vaguely achey, and a slight sore throat (slight, due to garlic!), so I'm guessing flu. All the same, nowhere near bad enough to stop me having fun today. So, as long as I take my blue pills with me in my blue bag with my blue drinks (yes, this is getting to the scary level of following a theme *g*), I'll be fine.

(ETA: Just realised why the Danny cap for [livejournal.com profile] multi_pass feels familiar. It's the same cap I used for [livejournal.com profile] ahab99's christmas icon, I'm pretty sure.)

And, as [livejournal.com profile] pheobesmum just reminded me, I promised to type up that fluff piece on undies that appeared in BNews 76 (23/10/03).

To supply you iwth this essential info, we consulted the experts and turned our penetrating X-ray gaze below the belt. Pay attention to our underwear expose and, the next time you travel down that treasure trail, you'll be able to uncover the (almost) naked truth about your man's deepest desires.

Briefs
There's a certain charm to a guy who's not in a huge hurry to grow up. The tighty-whities wearer is a simple hunk with a simple philosophy: If it isn't broken, why fix it? "These are the default option," says Jeff Stone, co-author of Chic Simple Men's Wardrobe.

"This guy isn't looking to be innovative because he's content, more or less, with the status quo," Stone says.

Guys who prefer briefs are also endlessly adolescent - playing football on the weekends to have fun, not to fine-tune their bods. Another draw to these drawers, according to Stone, is they offer a little more, um, support. That snug factor is a big plus during those aforementioned scrimmages.

Boxers
Admit it. There's something swoon-worthy about a steadfast stud who doesn't shun tradition. And a man who picks boxers, the most conservative skivvy selection, is likely to be a solid long-term romantic investment, says Stone. It's also, he says, a subtle assertion of a guy's transition to manhood.

But don't worry that this grown-up undergarment choice means your stud's a dud. Today, these crisp cotton undies offer the most style variety - coming in zillions of playful patterns. The pragmatic purpose behind them? The offer the best buffer between an itchy wool suit or stiff pair of jeans and a guy's preciously sensitive privates. We love them for their mystery factor.

Boxer briefs
Whoever invented this hot-as-hell undie hybrid has our undying gratitude. Any guy who sports these short-shorts probably has multiple gym memberships (you have to possess a seriously buff set of gams to pull off these mid-thigh babies).

Stone says they offer even more support for sportsmen than their predecessor, the basic brief, because they don't ride up on the leg.

This guy's healthy ego requires a man who is willing to go the extra mile to keep his attention firmly focused on him.

I find it vaguely interesting because in my family, the girls wear plain cotton undies, the guys wear cotton briefs. Personally, I like a cute pair of cotton undies on a girl, but I prefer the idea of boxers on a guy.

My fannish thoughts on this? Apparently Clark's moonlighting by writing for a gay newspaper ("penetrating X-ray gaze below the belt"). I guess the Daily Planet doesn't pay too well. *g*

"Admit it. There's something swoon-worthy about a steadfast stud who doesn't shun tradition." Could they describe Casey any better? I also think that "a solid long-term romantic investment" and "a subtle assertion of a guy's transition to manhood" are very appropriate to Casey as well. (As I typed, I noticed the amount of subtle alliteration. I couldn't help thinking that Casey would enjoy this article for the word choice alone.)

And that last sentence? *snickers* Very appropriate to Danny.

Wow. That's interesting! Mmm, characterization fodder. Thanks!

What about colored smaller brief-like ones?

*shrugs* I'm not sure... Maybe stylish, but still fairly boyish/youthful. A guy who likes to look good, but is still basically a college student at heart.

It does look very similar, yes. If I still has it up I'd check, but it's somewhere on my hard drive; damn the 15-icon limit! ;)
