Well, since Josh Charles has temporarily stopped all higher brain functions, I decided to make an icon. As it turns out, I couldn't stop. *g*

ETA: I just watched "On The Beach". *sniffles* Damn. I will never complain about disaster films with unrealistic last-minute solutions. I kept expecting a happy ending, and it just never appeared.

Mmmmm ... Josh's neck ... Josh's HUGE hair ...

Oh lord, I could've warned you about On The Beach, I saw it quite by accident when I was tiny - my parents had it on the telly, I didn't have quite such sophisticated tastes at age 8 or whatever it was - and I think it scarred me for life. You need to read, I think it's The Crysalids for balance, if I remember rightly civilisation falls apart in that too, except in Australasia. So you'll be okay. Though the internet'll be quiet.

Where does #5 come from? Dammit, how can I call myself a stalker if I don't recognise every single movement the man's ever made??

Yes, I like both of those. (Not equally, but I like them.)

I didn't realise it was that old. Hmmm... the advertising was acting as if it was kinda new, but... hmmm... well, I guess the fashions could have been anywhere from the early 90s onwards...

Heh. What I needed was to watch another Aussie film before going to bed - "Looking for Alibrandi". Refreshingly Aussie. (Suddenly makes me aware of how much American stuff I watch... *g*)

*laughs* Apparently, it's a screencap from Threesome. I don't honestly remember that scene, but there is one of him sitting under a tree and talking to Stuart/doing his essay, so the background looks familiar.

This was the re-make of the original, which had Ava Gardner in it.

Aha! Thanks, Erilyn. I thought it looked new, but my eye for details is not always spot on.

No problem :) Your post cleared up what happened in the end, I'd been trying to remember after we watched a bit of it last night *g*.

Hey!!!

Oh no, okay, fair enough.

Nevil Shute wrote the original novel in 1957, and the first movie adaptation (I had to go to IMDB for this bit, I don't carry this stuff around in my head) was 1959 and is a Classic - you probably got the 2000 TV movie that IMDB (a) lists and (b) rips to shreds.

We all watch far too much American stuff but in my defence at least I can honestly say that most of what's currently produced in Britain is absolute rubbish. When we do get it right it's very good, but that seems to be getting rarer and rarer, and I don't think we've ever made anything like Six Feet Under or The West Wing. Plus we can't do telefantasy to save our lives, though it's my personal belief that the TV companies do it badly on purpose 'cos they think it's beneath them. It sounds like a far-fetched conspiracy theory, but I've worked for a few media companies and it's actually not at all out of the question.

Threesome, h'm? Yes, I think you're right. It's on again, on yet another different channel, on Thursday, so I shall make sure to check it out. Any excuse.

Hey!!!

No offence, it was just being advertised as fairly new, so... if you'd managed to watch it over ten years ago, I was surprised.

Well... yeah. I've been watching a couple Aussie films lately, and they weren't too bad. I like some of the ABC comedies (ABC... is a conservative and british influenced station. They're also repeating the Dr Who eps at a tme I can't possibly see since I'm coming home from work.) but I get sick of reality TV and home improvement shows, and that feels like 70% of the aussie shows.

Yes, you'll have to. Do your fannish duty and report back to us if that lying under the tree scene actually occurs. *g*

I can't talk definitively about British TV because, appearances to the contrary, I actually don't watch much TV, but as far as I can tell most of the output is soaps, reality shows, reality shows about reality shows (seriously - they just did one called Back to Reality where they put a bunch of reality TV stars in a Big Brother style house and then, sadly, failed to burn it to the ground - that I would've watched), house and garden makeover shows ... oh, and Last of the Summer Wine, which is a sitcom that's been running since about 1963. American TV is mostly just as bad, but at least it has the odd decent show - mind you, it'll usually be cancelled after 13 episodes - and is kind enough to pass it on to us.

This is why the good lord gave us DVD.
