Am going to a passover seder this year. I'm following Celli's advice, because she said it was an interesting experience. An invite went through the queer uni group's mailing list, so I thought, "What the hell?"

Now, I just need to work out what food I'm taking.

I've decided I want to go to some of the comedy festival shows this year. Every year I say I want to go, and every year I don't get around to it. I got all enthusiastic about it last night, and then realised that I really couldn't afford to attend everything that caught my eye. So, I'm compromising. I'm going to go to two (or maybe three) of the Tightarse Tuesday shows (after class).

I'm definitely going to see Sarah Kendall, because I have a total humour crush on that girl. And maybe Maria Bamford, since she made me giggle during the gala... *shrugs*

Hey, anyone else wanna come? It'll be between $15-20 per show, so if you're interested, let me know. If not, I'll go alone and laugh like a hyena anyway. *g*

Disclaimer: Regardless of his many incarnations, Peter Krause is still not mine.

Notes: Fic set after the SN series finished, and before SFU began. Thanks to apathocles for beta and title. Thanks to scrunchy and laylee for supporting the idea. Thanks to oxoniensis for pointing out that I was being more neurotic than Dan and Casey combined.

With my discman, I'm writing on the train again. Yay. My homophobic fic is progressing in stops and starts, and it's going to end up another rambling oblivious-Casey fic. (I seem to have a soft spot for oblivious-Casey. He's just... adorable, even as he doesn't have a clue what's going on.)

Of course, I'd be much happier if I had an idea of where the plot is going, but I don't. I've had a couple of ideas of how the conclusion should go, but it's all overly emotional and requires a heavy set-up. When I sit down to write, the overly emotional stuff isn't coming. It's just... sniping at each or bantering.

*shrugs* I'm sure it'll figure out it's own conclusion in time. I just need to let it wander at it's own pace. (If nothing else, it's a pleasant distraction during the commute.)

***

Huh. One hour down, only eight hours to go (until the weekend officially starts). I've got a pile of work to do, but... yuerk. I don't want to do it.

On the other hand, I stayed up until 2am, so it's no wonder I'm less than enthusiastic today. Watched Angel, and I'm starting to wonder if the creators of that show are actually Spike/Angel 'shippers. I mean, really. *shakes head* Couldn't be much slashier. I'm secretly a Buffy/Angel shipper, so I keep freaking myself out with the spike/Angel thoughts that pop into my brain.

(I'm not so freaked out by the Fred/Eve thoughts. Pretty. And, yes, the Wes/Gunn thoughts are definitely back. *smirks* What can I say? The gay vibe on Angel is back with a vengence. Much like Bruce Willis.)

Passover's my favorite holiday in a major religion - definitely a good call to go. I'm bummed that B and I have been so sick, cuz I was excited about hosting another Seder. Next year I suppose.

You may know this, but just in case... Be very careful about the food you're taking - depending on how observant these folks are, there's an unbelievable number of rules. Assuming they sell Matzah in your local grocery, volunteering to bring a box (boxes?) is always a safe choice.

Thanks for the warning! *g*

Well, they had a list of food, and asked what I wanted to bring. (nice way of making sure I don't screw up.) I said I'd buy a quiche, and bring that. (Because: Mmmm... quiche!) So, yeah. Next Friday.

Fingers crossed I'll remember to go to church on Sunday. (It'll be funny if I do the lent thing, and attend a seder, and forget Easter mass, but I wouldn't put it past me.)

The problem with buying a quiche is that it likely has a crust, and said crust is likely made with a grain. One thing Lent swiped from Passover is the idea of giving something up. For Passover, you're supposed to give up all leavening (in honor of the Jews fleeing Egypt without time to let the bread rise, hence matzah), which is interpreted to include all flour not specially prepared (among other things). If you want to make your own, you could buy matzah meal to make the crust. Or, do they even sell crustless quiches? Or would that be an oxymoron?

Unless of course you have a convenient Jewish deli/grocer who sells Kosher for Passover quiches. :)

But it's always worth checking with the organizers - they could be very lax, they could be more restrictive (I'm pretty sure there's also rules for how long you can cook things made with matzah meal, which not everyone follows).

Oh, good thought. I checked with them and they said fine. (So, yay. *g*)

Following my advice?

Yeep. :)

Ironically, the one at my school is being held on a day I can't go. :/

*sniggers* Now, that's just an amusing co-incidence.

[Hey, my religious friend, could you do me a favour? When does Lent finish? I thought it was Friday, but Mum said Sunday, so now I'm... huh. Uncertain.]

Good question. Wednesday? Lemme look it up.

Heh. Lent is the time when many Christians give up something they enjoy eating in order to learn more about themselves and how to live a life closer to the example of Jesus. This is called:

fasting
binging
whining

Anyway, I think Maundy Thursday (Holy Thursday) is the last official day of Lent.

Score! I have six cadbury mini-chocolate eggs waiting for me in the fridge. Yay.

Oh, and the other yay news? Class on Thursday night is cancelled! So, long weekend starts a few hours earlier. *g*
