*sniggers* Yeah, you'll never complain about my wip-spamming ways again.
To the good old sing-along tune of Billy Joel's "Piano Man":
Anchor Men
It's a good script for a Saturday
As the reports and highlights drift in,
And Dan is sitting across from me
Reading scores with a small quirky grin.
He says, "Case, I believe this is killing me."
As the smile slips into a sad frown.
"It's the third night I've stated a soccer tie.
Do you think we could swap these around?"
{Bridge}
La la-la di-di da
La-la di-di da, da dum
{Refrain}
Tell us the scores, you're the anchor men
Tell us the scores tonight
Well, we're all in the mood for a victory
And you've got us feeling all right.
Now Isaac's the boss, and a friend of ours,
He keeps Luthor Sachs from our door
And he's quick with a drink, he'll make you stop and think,
But he's not all that young any more.
He says, "Son, can you name me this melody?
I'm not really sure how it goes,
But it's sad and it sweet and I knew it complete
When I wore a younger man's clothes."
{Bridge}
La la-la di-di da
La-la di-di da, da dum
Dana is the show's main producer.
She lives when her show is on-air.
And she's talking with JJ, who thinks he gets a say,
But probably won't ever care.
And Natalie was dating Jeremy,
But they've broken up yet again.
She says they were only sharing loneliness,
It's just their way of easing the strain.
{Refrain}
Tell us the scores, you're the anchor men
Tell us the scores tonight
Well, we're all in the mood for a victory
And you've got us feeling all right
Kim announces the five minute warning call,
And then Isaac gives us a smile.
He knows it's Dan and me that they tune in to see
To forget about life for awhile.
And the studio shines like a carnival
As Dan grins and throws over to me
And for an hour each day, we're both taken away,
And there's nowhere that we'd rather be.
In case you can't remember, or have a sudden urge to sing along, these are the original lyrics:
Piano Man
It's nine o'clock on a Saturday
The regular crowd shuffles in
There's an old man sitting next to me
Making love to his tonic and gin
He says, "Son can you play me a memory
I'm not really sure how it goes
But it's sad and it sweet and I knew it complete
When I wore a younger man's clothes"
{Bridge}
La la-la di-di da
La-la di-di da, da dum
{Refrain}
Sing us a song, you're the piano man
Sing us a song tonight
Well, we're all in the mood for a melody
And you've got us feeling all right
Now John at the bar is a friend of mine
He gets me my drinks for free
And he's a quick with a joke or to light up your smoke
But there's someplace that he'd rather be
He says "Bill, I believe this is killing me"
As the smile ran away from his face
"Well I'm sure that I could be a movie star
If could get out of this place"
{Bridge}
Now Paul is a real estate novelist
Who never had time for a wife
And he's talking with Davey who's still in the Navy
And probably will be for life
And the waitress is practicing politics
As the businessmen slowly get stoned
Yes they're sharing a drink they call loneliness
But it's better than drinking alone
{Refrain}
It's a pretty good crowd for a Saturday
And the manager gives me a smile
'Cause he knows that it's me they've been coming to see
To forget about life for awhile
And the piano sounds like a carnival
And the microphone smells like a beer
And they sit at the bar and put bread in my jar
And say "Man, what are you doing here"
