Since I just pointed this out to Hilary, I'm posting this to the general population.

Sports Night fandom is not small. We're not tiny; we're not a minority. We're a boutique fandom. A little upmarket, kinda cool in a unique, geeky way, and interested in quality, not quantity. Dude, say it with me: "We're a boutique fandom."

And, while I'm making public announcements, the fandom has a motto. It's the reason we watch, the reason we write, the reason we read. It's very simple to remember. Just flail your arms, and cry enthusiastically, "The gay! The gay!"

And, yes, I need to sleep now.

ETA: The 'boutique fandom' description comes from [livejournal.com profile] charliequinn and the motto comes from [livejournal.com profile] shellah. I make up for lack of creativity with...

*thinks*

...well, I'm sure I'll figure out a way.

You could do what I'm doing... imagine Cassie/Dani smut.

Yes, those gals are refusing to leave my head. I don't really mind. *g*

They'll have to stay in my head if I do. At some point, I need to write an actual Sports Night fic. With Danny and Casey in it. And Sports Night (the sport bit is a real problem though). So far I've managed one pre-show and one A/U. That's kind of. H'm. Silly ...

Still, not bad for a girl with writer's block, let's look on the bright side.

ah, Sorkinfic. Sports Night is indeed a boutique fandom. The West Wing is a Bloomingdales Fandom. Sprawling, up-market, big enough to get lost in, but containing many treasures.

I can beat a metaphor to death better than anyone I know.

Presumably exclusively Danny-fic would be a Manolo Blahnik outlet ...

*snerk*

I have a strong feeling that exclusively Casey fic would be related to shirts. But, yes, I'm visualising SN fandom as one of those little expensive boutiques that has shirts, slacks, dresses, shoes, handbags, accessories, all at a price that I could never afford. *g*

With no price tags on anything, 'cos if you need to know the price, you can't afford it. And nothing's sized larger than a 4 anyway.

Exclusively Isaac fiction would be all about bespoke tailoring.

Yes, it's true. I just drop in to pick up the kind of clever scarf you can't get anywhere else, the kind with the word "banter" woven into the fabric.

You can get gay lots of places, but for *banter* you have to shop at Sports Night.
