- Am working hard this morning (hence condensed update)

- Mum quit her casual job yesterday (in summary: teacher support sucks and kids are brats)

- We're going to be moving shortly (in about a month, I guess)

- I got 70% on the Financial Planning assignment (even though I did it corifisted1 and got quite a lot of stuff not quite correct)

- I owe [livejournal.com profile] celli a cheap bribe (but she'll probably be asleep before I get anything good enough to be called "cheap" together)

1 Which, huh, isn't a real word according to dictionary.com. It basically means "back to front" for everyone who doesn't speak AnnieTalk.

corifisted

Did you get it from a Katherine Kurtz novel by any chance?

No, I got it from Mum, who I think got it from her mum. I feel so Sam Seaborn-ish.

"It may not be a word. It may just be something my mother used to say."

I ask because in one of her novels she refers to a left-handed character as being 'corifisted' or something like that.

Well, according to Mum, it's why she does things back to front, because she was originally left-handed but was forced to learn to use her right (by religious nuns and stupid superstition). Hence, it means doing things the wrong way around, back-to-front, inside-out.

Huh. Maybe it is a real, and archaic, word.

Is the moving a good or a bad thing, d'you think?

And yeah, I have to crash...well, as soon as the meds kick in. You can bribe me later. :)

Moving...? It'll be a lot of re-sorting furniture/organising to sell/throw it out, so... yeah, lots of work, but moving's moving. It happens, it stuffs you for a week, and then you settle into the new place. I'm not looking forward to the amount of work involved in it, but that's just because I'm stressy over exams and pretty damn tired this week.

*shrugs*

I could/should be more supportive, but that'll happen after I get some sleep and then remember the thrill of moving somewhere new.

And yeah, I have to crash...well, as soon as the meds kick in. You can bribe me later. :)

No, you're awake, you're awake! I'll post it now.

Casey slunk back into the office and nearly jumped when Dan walked in a step behind him.

Dan just grinned. "Is Charlie gone?"

"Yeah," Casey said as he flopped onto the couch.

"I should have said goodbye." Dan took a good look at Casey and sat down beside him. "What's up?"

"Nothing."

"What's up, Casey?"

"Nothing's wrong. Can you just drop it?"

Dan snorted. "Last time you told me to drop it, did I drop it?"

"No."

"And the time before that?"

Casey rolled his eyes. "Didn't help then, either."

"So what makes you think it'll work this time?" Dan asked, stretching his legs out and crossing his ankles over the chair arm.

Casey tried not to notice the length of those legs, or the way those jeans discreetly hinted at Dan's strong thighs. "Eternal optimism?"

"Spill, Casey."

"It's my weekend with Charlie," Casey said, diverting his attention to the white ceiling above them. "I love the Olympics and all, but…"

"It's your weekend with Charlie." Dan sighed. "Did he take it hard?"

Casey shook his head, thinking about Charlie's serious expression. There were times when Charlie's parentage was clear. Casey was sure he could remember making that same expression, trying to look mature and practical when he just felt childish and hurt; trying to remember that his father was busy, that he ha responsibilities, that of course he wouldn't have time to attend something as unimportant as a gymnastics meet…

He just hated that the times when he most clearly saw himself in Charlie were also the times he most felt like his father. "He took it well."

"Yeah?"

"yeah. He said that he understood, that the Olympics only happened every four years, that they were important." Casey sighed and tried to shake off the melancholy mood. "He's studying them at school, you know."

"The Olympics?" Dan grinned. "Now there's a subject I'd be good at."

"You should offer to help him with homework," Casey said, getting up and going back to his script. From the concern in Dan's eyes, he realised that must have sounded a little too bitter.

"If you get stumped with the homework help," Dan said, smiling gently at Casey, "feel free to mention my name."

"I'll do that," Casey said, starting to feel his own smile form.

Dan nodded and stood up. "Although, you know who'd be really great at homework help?"

Casey looked up and matched Dan's grin.

"Jeremy," they said in unison.

mmmmm...*happy thoughts of Dan in jeans*

And Casey's so cute when he's angsting over daddyhood.

Oh, he's adorable! Regardless of how much of a Class A Jerk Casey is to Dana during S1, his scenes with Charlie totally redeem him. Casey as a father is just heart-warming.

Hurrah for what sounds like a very very good mark to me; cautious optimism on moving house; yes indeed on 'brats' and 'classroom assistant's pay'; big HURRAH on homophobic snippet.

This is condensed also although not because I am working hard.

*snerk* Well, yes, I'm very pleased with the mark, I'm less thrilled about the other stuff... but I'll cope. *g*
