Some people have one True Fandoms, some have One True Characters. A lot have One True Pairings (but these days, we frequently have a whole dozen OTPs so it doesn't mean that much). I have One True Songvids.

For a particular character, sometimes I'll imprint on a songvid that sums them up, that makes me blink and think of them in a new light, and that song and character will forever be linked in my mind.

In BtVS, Willow's is Transparent and Xander's is Some Fantastic. In Torchwood, Ianto's is Mr Brightside (at least for S1 Ianto).

Sadly enough, while I can embed the file here from YouTube, I've yet to figure out a way to be able to save the file for my own personal obsessing.

Well hey, that vid's awesome. [goes in search of the other two mentioned]

Oh, the point of this Random Stranger Comment? I use this site (http://vixy.net/) to get vids off youtube. It's shiny.

Good luck on that. I saved them years back and never found them again. But I thought they were both awesome.

And thank you for th link. I now have a whole handful of sites/programs to try to save that vid. Fandom rules, sometimes.

That's a gorgeous vid... damn, I missed TW...

Um, there is a program you can get to save YT stuff... I've heard people talking about it before. Maybe Google it? :)

Actually, I didn't even need to google it! Fen have stopped by and suggested sites and programs. (Oh, sometimes fandom and LJ rocks.)

*nods* It's so... It's the things that I loved about S1 -- the darker edge, teh angst, the ... remarkably unhealthy-yet-coping behaviour that the team had going on -- and it makes me happy. Admittedly, I love S2 and the team getting on, but emo-angsty-Ianto still makes me happy.

I use hxxp://keepvid.com/ - the resulting flv file is playable in vlc media player.

That's a pretty cool vid. Though it fails to get to the level of awesome to me cos 1) I spotted a sloppy cut near the end (or it might just be my streaming sucks) , and 2) I don't really like the song.

Still, pretty cool vid.

Well, I like the song and my technical knowledge isn't high enough to be annoyed by cuts.

Mind you, it's weird with songvids. It's so hard to articulate why *this* particular vid makes you squee, adn *that* particular one leaves you all "meh". Probably part of it is song choice -- much like you can't explain why you prefer one song to another because it's just something you like or don't -- but... yeah. It's interesting, although I have no answers.

Yeah, for me a lot of it has to do with song choice and edits. If there's one thing I absolutely cannot stand is sloppy cuts. No matter how brilliant the rest of the vid is, and how cool the song is, one tiny frame that was cut sloppily, and it's gone.

The next thing would be the song choice, which has a lot to do with personal taste. Like you said, you really can't explain why you prefer one song to another. For me, sometimes I'd love one song one day and hate it the next mainly cos of my mood. *shrug*

I use the aTubecatcher, you just have to google it.
Haven´t seen the vid yet cause the little princess right now has commandeer the tv/computer centre with Cars, so I´m forced to quietness. But I´m looking forward it, it´s been a week and I already miss TW.

Hold on...

I use the Firefox extension DownloadHelper. You have to open VLC first, then open within VLC, rather than opening VLC by opening the file, but it's easy and works great.

Which is what I'm using to save the vid for later watching, as the connection here is too slow to stream for some reason.

*nods* Thank you. I'll have to try that sneakily later today.
