I wasn't planning on going out last night, but I stopped by the uni to briefly catch up with friends, and got convinced to go bowling with them.

Ended up being three teams (over 16 queer students from RMIT, Deakin and Melb Uni). Even though the teams switched players for the second game, my team came first once, and a very close second (scores of 422 and 460 respectively - not bad for 5 players a team).

Out of both games, I only 2 spares. *g*

Last night, someone referred to us as the "queeries", which is a term I find rather cute and fun. However, the fact that today, I keep spelling queries as queeries, is starting to annoy me.

I want to write for the [livejournal.com profile] contrelamontre Sliding Doors challenge, but I don't know what. Plus, boozefest deadline is looming, and I still haven't found time to go through it and slash and burn.

Read this in [livejournal.com profile] rivkat's journal:
Also, Farscape. It’s neat to find a good show that doesn’t demonize or erase the father. John Crichton’s relationship with his father isn’t exactly smooth, but it is loving and he didn’t start out his journey broken.

It just got me thinking about the place of parents, in particular, fathers, in my favourite shows. For Buffy and Angel, everyone knows that "Dads are bad". SV? You could argue that there's the Devil Incarnate Lionel and Platitude Sprouting Jon. Both fathers have an extremely strong influence on their son, and the sins of the father are set to doom their children. (Allow me a little hyperbole, I'm just having fun. Personally, I don't think Lionel's as bad as he's made out to be and I actually like Jon as a dad.)

I'm wondering what other series have this message?

I'm bored. Hmmm. I even read LoTRPS. That tells you:
a) how bored I am
b) how lazy I am - I couldn't even be bothered opening SV fics, or doing anything productive...

Some songs stay in your head. Istanbul, not Constantinople by They Might Be Giants is one of those songs. Heard it one Tuesday morning and I'm still singing it in the shower. Franco Unamerican is another one, but I like it for these lines:
I want to move north and be a Canadian.
Or hang down low with those nice Australians.

I'm all about the self-insertion. *g*

The boss will be back within the next half-hour, so I'd better get back to work.

Oops!

Okay, fixing up another mail-out for work. Thought I was going fine. Had the list of clients updated, I'd stuffed around with the formatting and got it to sit right on the paper. I had the first 120 printed (out of 254), before I realised I was printing them on the wrong letterhead!

So now, I've fixed up the formatting again, and I'm printing it out. And, I have a nice stack of shredding to do after everyone else leaves the office.

Self indulgent rambling. Welcome to my stream of consciousness... )Man, I have no idea where I'm going with this. I'm just really tired.

Anyway, here's the cute kitten quiz Fear me...*g* )
