out_there: B-Day Present '05 (My Girls)
Tried to call mum last night but couldn't get her. Surprisingly enough, she calls me this morning. We ended up talking for about half an hour and in a totally unrelated occurance I was half an hour late for work. *g*

In mum's defense, this wasn't due to her. It was due to me ... )All in all, if just one of those things hadn't happened, I'd only have been 10 minutes late. *g*

On the good side of things, even though I forgot my book and my breakfast, and my snacks for today, I'm going out to lunch with [livejournal.com profile] charliequinn today. There's very little that lunch with a cute/slasher gal can't make up for. *g*

Now, I'd better see if I can get something done before lunch...

This is a post that was written on the train, because if you're feeling this good, the good vibes should be shared.

I am in love with the world. Even if it was cold enough this morning to make me wheeze, it was beautiful at lunch, a city atmosphere full of sunshine and activity. Although I know it'll be cold tomorrow morning, this evening was mild enough that I could wander through the park to the station, singing "Rainbow Connection" to the stars, and thinking about just how much I love the lovers and dreamers in my life, how much I love my friends.

I love my creative SV fen; the romantic Jess, the intriguing Celli, the visually poetic Slod, the entertaining Wendi, the epic Jenn and the mesmerising Te. I love the way you take my beloved canon characters and make me fall for them anew and the way you make me want to know your original characters.

I love the anime fans who also understand the appeal of pretty, pretty animated boys, who share recs for series and fics, and who not only indulge, but actively support, my love of theorising about Utena.

I love the HP fen, all those who have been studiously reading for the last week, and who now seem to be suddenly inspired. I love my popslashers, with their love of all thins sparkley and their weakness for boys that I will always see as far more non-sexual than homosexual.

I love the way that you all let me into your lives and the way that you share your concerns and triumphs. I love your generousity with your intelligence, your thoughtfulness, your great senses of humour, and all the wonderful personality quirks that make you you. I love the way that you listen to me and humour me, the way that you share my life and don't mind if I squeal like a thriteen year old girl with a crush.

I love fandom. All of them; the ones that I live in like Smallville; the ones that I occasionally visit like The Sentinel, Due South and Harry Potter; the ones that I admire like West Wing and Hornblower; the ones I enjoy dearly like BtVS, AtS and Good Omens; the ones I once knew like Dawson's Creek and Tokyo Babylon; even the ones I never read, like Popslash, RLS and X-Files. I love the creativity and possibility within them all.

I love the BNFs who contribute so much of themselves to fandom. The loud fans who pimp the good stuff to me and the quiet ones who gently support our creative people. I love the newbies, those who enter a fandom with hidden talent and simply shine. I love those who may not be actual teenagers, but are teenagers at heart, and persist in treating fandom like a huge highschool, or something that is owed to them. Even when they're being obnoxious, immature and annoying, I love them because I know that with enough time, caring, support and gentle reprimanding, they will eventually become mature, creative, wonderful people like you guys.

I love fandom and everyone in it. I love you all for having passion, for showing such support and devotion to something that you care about. I love you for your imagination, for dreaming up fics, pics and vids, for sharing them with the rest of us. I love you for thinking, for caring, for ranting and raving, writing essays, writing feedback, for actively being a part of something and for quietly enjoying it.

When it comes down to it, I just wanted you to know that I love you. *hugs*

Dude! Paige is singing Fever. Slow, sexy and sultry. Man, that's the way that song should be sung! *bg*

Hey! They cut it down to shreds! That song rocks, and they turned it into about ten lines long. *pouts*

Hmmm... Hey, is anyone on my Friends list keeping up with the Historical Clex challenge? Has there been an entry for 15-17th century Ottoman Empire Clex? I'm just curious because of the Harem documentary that was on this week and last week. I don't know just how I could fit Clark and Lex into the Sultan's palace/harem, but I'd like to see it done. Or, possibly, if I get time, maybe even work on a fic along those lines... Hmmm... Bad fic-bunny-spawning documentary! *g*
