It's past midnight and I need to go to work in the morning. Hence, I need to go to bed. ... Soon.

I had every intention of staying up to write Dan/Casey smut (somewhere out in WIPland, there is a very frustrated Casey glaring at me), but instead, I got sidetracked by Company of Strangers, a short Mal/Simon series.

Now, [livejournal.com profile] celli knows my issues with Mal/Simon. It's a pairing that I see clearly onscreen... or, to be more accurate, I see the desire onscreen, but I don't actually believe that these guys would risk the added danger of a romantic relationship.

Company of Strangers totally worked for me. It convinced me, without a doubt, that Mal and Simon are secretly screwing like bunnies during the series. *g* Go, read. It's got a Mal and Simon that I recognise well, and a Zoe cameo that I loved.

Oh dude, slept in until 8.30am. Showed up to work at about 10am. Bad Annie.

In other thoughts, check out this. It's a study of how often Dan and Casey using Dan/Danny and Case/Casey, respectively. It's interesting. Highly geeky, but really interesting.

I find it intriguing because... my Dan and Casey? Kinda agree. Well, Casey thinks of himself as Casey, thinks of Case as a nickname that really only Danny uses, and generally thinks of Dan as either Danny or Dan. He uses them kinda interchangeably, but professional, serious stuff is Dan, and relaxing, having fun or intensely personal stuff is Danny. (Am I getting deja vu, or what? Maybe I've mentioned this in fic, or just thought about posting to LJ about it. Either way, feels like I've thought this argument out before. *shrugs*)

Dan thinks of himself as Dan, but easily recognises himself as Danny. Less of a personal attachment to either name. He thinks of Casey as Casey. He frequently thinks of Casey as Case, but doesn't always use the nickname.

Hmmm...

Personally, I think of myself as Annie. I recognise that out_there is me, but I always have the mental conversion of out_there=annie, not out_there=*me*. It's an odd differentation, but it's how I think about it.

SQUEE!!!

It's official. I have the *coolest* friends! Went for lunch with [livejournal.com profile] charliequinn and her co-worker today (I have to ask for her name next time I see her *g*) and [livejournal.com profile] charliequinn gave me a Chrissy pressie!

Cut for excessive squeeing )

Lex is now up on my desk partition, right next to Rob Lowe. Oh man, that gift *rocks*.

You know, I'm finding it hard to imagine anyone less likely to do any actual work than me this afternoon. I mean, seriously. When I'm actually doing some quick editing on last night's smut, while sitting at my computer, I am bored.

Meanwhile, the present tense continues to be my sneaky nemesis. I write a fic in past tense, and it slithers its way into the middle of smutty paragraphs. Not all of them, mind you. Just a few paragraphs. Then it lies low, waits for me to grow comfortable in past tense protection, before striking again. It's like lightning. Never strikes the same place twice.

And Lex is staring at me, holding his Chrissy gift. *bg* You have no idea how much a Lex can brighten up a dulled stacked desk.
